The Times is running a story on the death of Bob Noorda, the man behind the transit signage for the city of New York. Noorda died from trauma suffered in a fall on January 11 in Milan, Italy. He was 82. Noorda's designs represented a new age in Modernism, marrying Bauhaus simplicity to vibrant graphic styling.
